Chief Daniel J. Carlin came to Tuxedo Police Department on June 1, 2001 after serving for thirty two years with the NYPD. His police experience started in August of 1968 in the 28th Precinct in Manhattan. It was there that numerous assignments and promotions culminated in accepting the responsibility of Deputy Inspector of the Northern Manhattan Initiative, part of the Narcotics Division. He was in charge of 450 Detectives, Supervisors and Civilian members of the service.

Chief Carlin commanded the Auto Crime Division, Bronx Narcotics District and Bronx Tactical Narcotics Team. He also served as a Lieutenant in the 24 Pct., 25 Pct, 46 Pct. and the Applicant Processing Division. Chief Carlin brings a varied police experience to Tuxedo which comes in handy when dealing with the myriad problems that one encounters in a small town police department. The Chief likes to point out that what is handled in a large department by a staff is handled here by one person. Duties range from crime scene investigations to traffic accidents to lost children to everyday tasks such as procurement of supplies and hiring and promotions.

The Chief is proud of the service the members of this Department provide for the public and hopes that in the future the steady growth of the town is matched by the steady growth of professionalism and integrity within this Department
